Host Intro:
Reiki is an up incoming treatment that is used as an alternative medicine. Bernette Delany is a breast cancer survivor who used Reiki as a healing process.
Bern: I had my surgery and it turned out that I my margins were completely clear and I didn’t have to get chemo or radiation and i'm not on any medications for my cancer after treatment. So I thought it really made a difference going to this woman who was a healer.
Delany visited Diane Todd who is a Reiki master who works with cancer patients.
Diane: Well I have done diff types of work I have been working for 4 years in the wellness community in Eatontown, which is the largest support center for cancer patients in the country. I facilitate meditations there we teach the cancer patient’s how to do self-Reiki so they can diminish the side affects of the chemotherapy. I also led a study last year at the Monmouth medical center in the oncology department about doing Reiki and the study was pretty favorable.
Delany believes that Reiki has helped her healing process after the surgery.
Bern: It turns out after the surgery I had 150 stitches and I healed miraculously fast it was really unbelievable how quickly I healed.
Todd explains how we benefit from universal energy.
Diane: We kind of surrender to it and we just let it work through us its really very interesting and it’s a gratifying experience to be able to help people this way another thing about working with the energy and being a vessel for the energy is that it comes through us to the people that we are working on and we can feel the benefits from the energy as well. It’s really interesting.
After getting treated and seeing the results, Delany wanted to become Reiki certified and help others.
Bern: Taking Reiki opened my mind up to the body mind and the soul all working together as a healing process. It gave me a higher level of awareness of how to get the body to work together in harmony to be healthier.
